Participation Report: The 5th Local 5G Joint Verification Meeting
On March 17, 2026, our laboratory participated in the 5th Local 5G Joint Verification Meeting, held at the Innovation Center of the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT).
Verification of Local 5G Use Cases Using Actual Equipment
This verification meeting was organized by the Local 5G Promotion Research Group, chaired by Professor Akihiro Nakao, with the cooperation of NICT. Local 5G radio signals were actually transmitted at the venue, and the event was open to a wide range of visitors—including non-members—providing an opportunity to observe the latest use cases in a real-world environment.
Our laboratory exhibited several systems under development, including ultra-compact outdoor base stations and high-power outdoor base stations, and conducted verification tests in environments assuming actual operational conditions. We extensively evaluated communication characteristics across different use cases as well as operational challenges.
In addition to our laboratory, approximately 220 participants from numerous organizations attended the event, including telecommunications operators, equipment vendors, and broadcasting and video-related companies. In an environment close to real-world deployment, we collaborated with various organizations to verify the operation of actual equipment, while actively engaging in technical discussions and exchanges of views aimed at the social implementation of Local 5G.

Future Outlook
Based on the insights gained through this demonstration activity, our laboratory will continue to engage in research and verification efforts toward the further technological development and practical deployment of Local 5G.
